January 2009 Myojo Translation: PART 4
Mar. 18th, 2009 11:55 pmJun's translation is now done! Again.. this was a little difficult. There were a few parts that were confusing, some parts that I pretty much understood, and then there's the ones that I completely understood, which was awesome. This time halfway through, I realized... I OWN THIS MAGAZINE.. why don't I just look off the freaking magazine instead of the scans ^^;;
Anyway, I learned some new words again :D Gonna add them to my word list on smart.fm :D
On to Jun! My comments are (as usual) in italics.

It’s fine to go for whatever’s fashionable, but I want to wear what I like for a long time.
Lately I’ve been wearing entirely second hand stuff, and before it really becomes winter, I don’t really wear any outwear, I wear 2 or 3 layers, and I feel ok. Right now, I want an old t-shirt (laugh). I have about 50 of them at my house right now. There are times when I choose it based on the design of the t-shirt, and there are times I choose it based on the size or what it’s made out of. I don’t pay much attention to the price. A long time ago, I would buy really expensive vintage t-shirts, but t-shirts that are hundreds of dollars come all worn out. If that’s the case, it’s better to have a bunch of t-shirts with good quality material.
I think having fun and putting stuff like checkers and bohemian style (I have no idea what he’s saying… maybe it’s a fashion thing?? I’m not a fashion person lol) into fashion is great. But, I think Japan has been kind of ignoring that. When something interests me, I’m the type that always wants to wear it, so the fashion that I’m aware of, I think it’s good to try an outfit on. The things I’m interested are long. Since I was in high school, I always wore pants. My clothes today… a jersey shaped sweater (lol wtf Jun), sweatpants, and a knitted hat. My shoes are boot-like sneakers (laugh) (I WANNA SEE LOL WTF). It seems cold outside, but I think this is fine now. When I pick out an outfit, it depends on the usefulness. For example, when I’m dancing, I pick pants and shoes that are easy to dance in.
I don’t really follow fashion that much, but I think it’s important to pick what goes well and what doesn’t go well, and meld into the scenery. For example, "cool clothes" are completely different between the west coast of America, London, and Italy. For America’s west coast, I could see that t-shirts and shorts were in style, but if you wore something just like that somewhere else, it wouldn’t work. Tokyo is mixed, so I think that Tokyo has an atmosphere. For fashion… I pull out stuff from things like documentary photo books and use them for reference.
