Probably 90% of my friends list won't care to read this, but I watched おどろきの嵐 yesterday, and DAMN it was funny, and kind of cool at the same time.

おどろきの嵐 is a Japanese TV program (well, more like an SP) where members of the group Arashi think of weird experiments and try them out. For example, What would I look like if I sat inside a giant reflective sphere?. Weird questions like that .

They start off the show with an experiment wondering if you could make a Hot Air balloon entirely out of newspaper (including the wire and basket). They've got "experts" I guess that sit as a panel and give their input about whether or not this experiment will fail or succeed, and why.

The guy who is supposedly an expert on paper (PAPER? An expert on PAPER?) Claims that it will work if they place the newspaper in a certain way. "It won't rip if you do it like--"

Oops . Well, they make the thing anyway. It takes them 2 weeks to make a giant balloon and basket. Somehow they end up roping Sho into being the one riding this contraption of death. But before they can get it up, the whole thing rips in half. Well, I think that saved his life .

The next experiment they did was with different vegetables, for example, seeing what happens to vegetables if you force them to grow in a small bottle for 30 days. This one was pretty interesting. First they put a ring around a baby eggplant and a baby green pepper and let them grow for 30 days.

Then they put an eggplant and a cucumber inside a bottle to see what would happen.

Well, the eggplant turned out pretty cool, let's see how the cucumber did...

Nino: WTF!!!

They also did an experiment where they wanted to see what would happen to different fruits and veggies if they didn't have any sunlight while they were growing. They ended up with a WHITE STRAWBERRY. How freaking cool is THAT

Next they wanted to see if a boat made entirely out of hay would float.... (seriously where do they come up with these ideas.)

Sho & Aiba: YAY IT FLOATS .

Oh $&*@(^!!!

Ahh.. amusing. The boat eventually ended up falling completely apart, and they all went overboard . The next experiment they did was with paper friction. Apparently if you put 2 books together, one page at a time, they're pretty much stuck together. YOU CANNOT PULL THEM APART

Of course they try anyway ^^; So, they end up doing quite a few stress tests on this. First they try to see if it will hold the weight of a person. Matsujun hops on, and it easily picks him up. So they try 4 people.

No problem. They do a couple more tests, and the books stay strong. So they decide they're gonna try to see if it will pull a train. 20 tons of force!

Ohno-conductor: Readyyy, GO !

It fucking pulls the TRAIN. PAPER. WTF. This is awesome. After this experiment they go on to see what it would look like if you sat inside a pyramid made entirely of glass. The results are something you'd probably say, "Of course that's what it'd look like", but at the same time it looks really cool XD;

Ohno: I can see through time !

Ok. The next test is something that has been done before. It was a really dumb idea then, and it's still a dumb idea, but FUCK... Aiba just looks so ridiculously dumb, I just have to put this picture up. He's trying to see if he wears a suit made entirely of mirrors he will then be invisible . (They like mirrors, don't they?)

Wtf Aiba, seriously. ^^; It's pretty dumb, but god.. it looks funny .

And finally, their last experiment was "What happens if you put an orchestra underwater? Would you still be able to hear it?". Nino decides to join in the action on this one and plays the part of the cymbalist (is that a word..?).

Nino: Oh shit, what did I get myself into ?

They slowly lower the stage the musicians were sitting on, and most of the performers were doing alright.

...except for this guy . Poor cello :P

Some of the musicians had to surface due to their inability to play, however.. the verdict?

Yes. You could hear music. Very poor music, but music nonetheless . That really surprised me. I didn't think it would work at all.. I mean, violins have to use the vibrations etc to play music and I would have thought that the water would stop all those vibrations, or at the very least slow them down considerably!

And that ends my first picspam! God I feel dorky.. yes, I know I am a dork so don't comment, "You are a dork" although now that I've said that, I'm sure people will. Well, I found it pretty fun to write this, so I may be doing more in the future.
