Also he is obviously good at captivating his audience--even if I don't like one of his films, I will still be interested in it all the way through because the stories are unique and intriguing.
Another reason I think people like his films, and why I like his films, is they usually cover subjects that people don't normally experience in their own lives and think of as "exciting": drugs, violence, sex etc. These themes are an easy way to make an interesting story, but I feel like Tarantino is more successful in utilizing those types of things than regular hollywood blockbusters--it doesn't feel as forced or fake.
