Yes, well...

So I did want to write about what I've been doing lately, I really have.. ; I just never found the time to actually write what I wanted to.. hrmmm.

Well anyway, I actually DO want to update with stuff, so... without further ado! (In as chronological order as I can get it)

apple 2 weeks ago on Tuesday, I went with [livejournal.com profile] mystical_mayhem to see Hanson!

I swear I am jinxed when it comes to outdoor concerts, because it was scheduled to rain on us... and of course it did. Not nearly as much as the typhoon of rain we got for the 5x10 concert, but it was definitely rain. Luckily we had an idea it would rain, and were able to get some crappy ponchos from the dollar store before we got to the venue.

The staff of course told us they were going to start EXACTLY at 7:30, but what happened? They started at like 8:20... yeah. But oh well... it was really fun to actually SEE Hanson LIVE!! Because I'd never had a chance to before and, as most of you probably don't know, I was a HUGE Hanson fan back in the day -- joined the fanclub and everything :x

Anyway, they sang a lot of new songs, and a lot of old songs... and I came to realize that even though I went through that "punk rock" phase in my life, I think I just tend to lean towards really uplifting songs. Hanson's new songs are really great and fun and [livejournal.com profile] mystical_mayhem and I had a lot of fun dancing and being stared at by Taylor and Zac lol

Anyway... aside from the rain, it was really fun... and really fun to actually see Zac in the flesh. He was always my favorite. The dorky weird/stupid guys always are my favorites (Mickey in TMNT, Wacko in Animaniacs, Junsu in DBSK etc...) and so it was interesting to see Zac with facial stubble, and some muscle haha...

But you know the image that really stuck with me in my head is that while he was drumming, there was a part where he was just going at the drums as fast and hard as he could, all the while with this gigantic, stupid grin on his face... all I could think was, "Wow, I wish I could have as much fun as he does doing something he loves".

Because I really don't even know what I want to do with my life anymore, and that's really depressing to me. I'm stuck in this weird limbo right now, and I know there's a lot of college kids that get this way once they graduate, but I just am so... confused about my life.

But that's something for another entry.

All in all, the concert was really fun. They had to cut it short a bit because there was lots and lots of lightning looming nearby and the staff wanted them to stop playing near tons of electrical equipment. They also sang Mmmbop for their last song!! Holy crap I honestly NEVER thought they would still be singing that... and it was really magical.

I seem to like all the groups that still play their debut song 10 years later, don't I? catface

apple Up NEXT, we have Scott Pilgrim VS the World! I saw the movie opening night, and it was really great! I highly enjoyed it, although I hear it deviates from the comic after the first 1/2, but that those who read the comic still highly enjoyed the movie.. good sign in my opinion bird It's good.

apple OBON FESTIVAL! Every year, there is an Obon festival at our local zoo here.. I wasn't able to go last year because well.. I was IN Japan, but I went again this year and we had a mini Arashi fan meet hehehehe I even managed to put my yukata on by myself... and tye the damn obi by myself as well! I'm glad I know that I can do it all by myself now. Good to know thumbsup

I was seriously surprised that I could get the obi tied by myself -- it was only the 2nd time I've done it! And that fan on the back kept popping up when I moved around, but it was for the 夏祭り in Okazaki last year -- I love it I think it's so cute! Btw my shoes totally do not match my yukata! I really don't have anything better yet! ._.;;

Of course I had to bring my Ohno uchiwa as well hehehehe Actually, we had probably 4 or 5 girls walk up to our group and ask us where we got our uchiwas... tons of other Arashi fangirls!! Compared to 3 years ago when we went and one girl working at the place thought [livejournal.com profile] katzichan's Sho uchiwa was Jun... and that's it!! I was so surprised. Seriously, Arashi is taking over the world.

I also managed to scare a bunch of Japanese girl scouts... *sigh*.. there were quite a few different groups of them, and every time they would be near us they would talk about our uchiwas and stuff... eventually there was another group that were seriously STARING at me and our uchiwas, and whispering stuff like, "Ohno-kun!" and "Sakurai-san!" etc so I thought... why not? And walked up to them...

Me: すみません~嵐が好きですか?
Them: *stares blankly with mouths open.. stepping back slowly.. then they start nodding nervously*
Me: あぁそうですか?私たちも大ファンなんです。
Them: *smiles awkwardly and then RUNS AWAY*
Me: ..........

Yeah...

Well, at least I can say I tried. When I looked at them and they were staring, I made it a point to smile at them so I really didn't think they would get so flustered and run away.

Anyway, it was quite fun and I'm glad that we got to go.. also, by some sort of crazy miracle bestowed upon her, [livejournal.com profile] lyricalidol found an original copy of the Kaibutsu-kun manga!! How insane is that!? And I'm almost thinking it'd be really fun to translate it haha.

apple I didn't get Tokyo dome tickets. it really really sucks... but I'm not giving up yet. I/We can't afford to buy those $700 tickets from the auctions, but I'm doing things my own way and hoping that I can get us some tickets in my own methods.

Wish me luck bomb

lol I remember at that Lantern Festival when somenoe asked if on her Sho uchiwa was Rain. At the time I had no idea who he was so I was confused. Look where that landed me...as a fan of Rain. xDD

Your uchiwa story reminds me of when I went to Fanime Con earlier this year! There was a JE Fan Meetup and random people around the con saw me & my friends w/ our uchiwas and proceeded to stop us. "OMG, WHERE'D YOU GET THOSE?!" I guess they thought we got them at Fanime. HAHA, no. LOL but it was still kinda fun to see so many people recognize & know Arashi.

Sometimes I feel like I'm apart of a tiny fandom when you look in from the outside but stuff like that will happen to make me rethink. Oh! Also - oddly at my job interview, we got on the subject of Japan & I mentioned that I went in both 2008/09 and that in 2008 I went to study & see a concert. One interviewee asked who I saw & when I said Arashi, she was like O_O!!! LOL so it's like, "Woah, small world~"

lmao omg some of the girls thought that we bought our uchiwas at the festival too..

I'm thinking in my head like, "umm no I wish :P"

also your thing about us being in a tiny fandom, I TOTALLY agree... there are times when I'm just like, "holy crap they are EVERYWHERE now", and then there are also times where I'm like, "wow, everyone knows everyone else..."

..or maybe it is both :)

ahh I wish we had more festivals like this too honestly.

There is only this one per year that they have here T__T sadly.. but at least they do have it.

AAaah. 700$, those tickets are. . . I should try and put that money aside for when I go to Japan. Just in case. T_T

HANSON!! My beloved boys. My first and still going fandom. I'll be a fan of those guys for as long as I'll live. No, but, seriously. They are... genuine. It is very exciting to mature with them musically. I am glad you got to see them in concert as well. I got to see them twice live. I experienced those concerts quite differently: the first, as a 14 y.o. teen, the other, as a 21 y.o. young woman. And, yes, Zac on the drums is quite... awesome. I think this is how my ex-boyfriend approved of them: seeing Zac going at it with all his might. ;D

Obon festival seemed nice! :D I can't believe you brought your Ohno uchiwa. ^^ So cute of you. And those girls there... Hum... Well, given I can't read kanji, I couldn't read what it is you said in its entirety, but... How odd! xD

Am terribly sorry for the Tokyo Dome ballot results. ;_; I do hope these other methods you have will prove fruitful. I really, I really want to see Arashi live in concert when I go to Japan, and so, I wish ya the same.

And, LOL at the "bro" thing. Thanks for sharing this piece of personal story with Lotion. I do hope my man, the one I'll meet ;P, will be as open and supportive as Lotion is to you. ♥

aww your yukata is awesome looking!!! they're really annoying to put on by yourself but it looks like you did just fine! :)

but much sadness that you didn't get tickets...did it cost you to just be in the lottery or will you get that money back?

Date: 2010-08-24 05:33 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] eggchan.livejournal.com
thank you! I was really surprised I could put it on honestly lolll the yukata part is easy, but tying the obi can be difficult x_x;

as for the auction, you do have to pre-pay all the tickets you want when you ballot, but if you don't hit all your money gets returned to you so.. it doesn't cost to be in the ballot itself.. unless you count the fanclub membership fee xD;
