Hey y'all! Been a while since I've done a translation but I was able to sit down and work on this one. Hopefully I'll be able to finish up this interview series! I like the interviews so far!

Please don't take this out of my journal without my permission.
DO NOT claim these as your own. I spend a lot of time translating these, please be respectful.
My notes are in italic like usual
Enjoy!
T/N!!: The word 約束 (yakusoku) means 'promise', but in Japanese can also mean something similar to plans made with your friends/family. For example, if someone asks you if you want to go out to eat but you already have plans, you could reply something to the extent of "ごめんね、約束があるよ" (Gomen ne, yakusoku ga aru yo "I'm sorry, I already have plans") So please keep this in mind while reading this as the interview spans many different ways to interpret the word "promise" in Japanese.

[Aiba Masaki]
[Not having to make promises is the best]

Do you keep promises with people?
Of course I plan to keep them, and I do try to not forget them, but it also depends on what the promise is. (laugh) If it's a promise that's not that important I'll probably giggle inadvertently, and I don't know if I can say that I can definitely keep any kind of promise. (laugh) It's just, of course I don't let out secrets if I'm told not to tell anyone else, and even if they don't tell me not to I decide that it's better not to tell others and I definitely don't say anything. I mean, after you tell someone, it doesn't benefit anyone... I don't tell others my own secrets. Even if I don't have a bad feeling about that person, there's a chance that it might get out and spread. Well, when the five of us are in our dressing room, we're kind of eye witnesses to the amusing things that we all do, right? Well we say that stuff immediately on TV and during MCs! (laugh)

What are some Aiba family promises / rules?
Each person in the Aiba family holds their own self respect very highly, so there aren't really anything like rules. When I was small, My parents would tell me not to leave leftovers and to not borrow money. It's better to do things just with common sense, isn't it? In terms of if it's with other people or not.

What are some promises within Arashi?
There aren't any~ When you dont have any promises, we're happy with each other. I think it's best to go smoothly without promises. If I want to make a promise, I would make it much further into the future. I think that the other members feel the same way even though they don't have to say it.

Do you keep your plans for outings, and do you plan what you're going to do ahead of time?
If I make a plan with a friend to go out for a bite to eat, I first say what I'd like to do, and then I leave it up to someone who is good at compromising. (laugh) A happy outing would be a golf outing! When I decide to go out golfing, I'm really happy. The charm of golf? I have a lifestyle that is always around being inside a building, but if I'm golfing, I spend an hour in a car and I can get rid of all the negative vibes at the golf range. Also, golf is a sport that uses a really wide area, and on top of that since I'm the only person in the group who feels that freedom, it's fun to have a conversation about it. Of course, there's a lot of charm in golf in that way as well. So all of that put together is jam packed full of fun (lol this is so "Aiba")

What is a promise that you hope to your future wife will make?
That would depend on the person, I guess... But honestly I don't have any. If I were to promise to myself? H~m, I guess to always follow the 'ladies first' rule... Ah! This is good. (laugh) You can use that in any kind of situation.

Make a promise to the readers of 2010!
"To fix my hangnails" (laugh) (LOL wtf Aiba) Was that ungrateful? Since the last half of 2009, they've been getting annoying. And, if I peel it blood comes out and then I repeat it over when it heals and then I peel it again... it's a never ending cycle. (laugh) So, this year I'll heal my hangnails!

Your recent state?
The only venue left in our concert is Nagoya! It started in August of '09, and without a pause from our 10 year anniversary to our 11th year we're continuing on the way we have been, and it's been better than I imagined. This time it's our "grateful" tour, so I want to hold the importance of those feelings until the very end.
