Yep yep. I'm back already. Cuz I told me private teacher that I would try to read over Jun's part too, so I'll have more things to talk about with her :3
Won't go far into it, honestly. Here goes~

We were able to go peacefully in the direction we wanted
[2009 – 3 big news]
First of all, of course it’s our 10 year anniversary. We were able to do a lot of different things in a lot of different places. During our 10 year anniversary, “VS Arashi” became a golden time show, we did “Himitsu no Arashi-chan” specials, and “Arashi Challenge Week” was amazing. I’m happy that we were able to do new things with the team we always work with. Looking at last year up to our 10 year anniversary, there were of course a lot of projects that came our way, but in reality it was better than expected. We appeared in the media, and I was told by people “You’re guesting a lot, huh”, and I realized again just how big the media really is, so I feel like I have to properly convey myself. It’s while our tour is going on, but it’s going on into the next year, and even though we’re in a really busy time, I’m really happy that we have a chance to communicate with our fans.
The second one has got to be my drama “Smile”. I’m glad I was able to tackle a difficult theme with the “HanaDan” team. To put it frankly, when I first read the book, I thought that it would be something that girls wouldn’t really like. The work that I of Arashi haven’t really been on the middle line, but it was a challenge that I could do it at that time. I want to always be fresh, and there’s the conscious part of me that when I'm being watched, I want to be watched freshly. More than anything, starting with Nakai Kiichi, I was helped by amazing actors and actresses.
The third one isn’t about me, but about Aiba Masaki’s first leading role in the “My Girl” drama (laugh). Of course I watched it, but it was interesting. Above all, the most impressionable was the child actor who played Koharu-chan was seriously adorable (laugh). I think Aiba-kun’s schedule was considerably tough, but it was decided that I would have a starring role in a drama at the end of our 10 year anniversary, so I’m also excited. We were able to do the theme song for “My Girl”, so this definitely became the start for our 11th year, and the key figure is Aiba Masaki (laugh).
[Looking back on the year 2009]
{More than commenting on the February issue of 2009, not for our own 10 year anniversary, but I want to have a year of repayment. I want the people who came to cheer us on to be most important.}
With these memories, and the year that we had, I don’t know whether or not it was the best, but I’m so glad we were able to go peacefully in the direction we wanted to.
[Current State]
Our drama, “The Last Promise” (最後の約束) will be broadcast next year, but this is another 10 year anniversary project too. A giant building is occupied by a bunch of terrorists. Then, it’s the story about the 5 people who are inside that building. My role is a bike delivery boy. Without getting worked up about it, more than how Arashi is going to do it, I first want to think about how to make it a good piece of work. When we’re in the dressing room, we’re together so that kind of feeling doesn’t change for variety shows or anything (laughs). In the drama “Wagaya no Rekishi” (わが家の歴史) (Airs on Fuji Television next spring) my co-workers have a peaceful atmosphere like a loving family. If the people born in Heisei (Heisei is the current era in Japan. It started on January 8th of 1989) watch it, I think it might be like the long running historical dramas or historical plays. The warmth of a big family can confirm that, and it’s a piece of work in which you’ll be able to understand the history of that time period. This year’s Christmas I want to have a ball with tons of friends and a New Year’s party. For Aiba-kun… I think I’ll give him a ticket to a huge Edo-period style onsen (laugh).

Date: 2009-12-10 03:53 pm (UTC)I totally blew me away. ^^
I am not such a big fan of Jun, though I come to respect him more and more. I can't deny that he is an amazing actor. He seems to be less boastful recently. Maybe because he has engaged in work other than HYD. I have yet to watch Smile, but from the previews I can tell he has such a wide range of acting. :)
Thank you for this very, very nice translation. :D
