Potato Jan 2010: Translation (Aiba)
Dec. 9th, 2009 12:03 amHey guys. I'm on a rooooooll. Also, because I am going to be sending this to my private lesson teacher, so I thought I should go over some articles ^^ And I can post them while I'm at it. Yay!
Today I bring you Aiba's interview in the January issue of Potato!

Please don't take this out of my journal without my permission.
DO NOT claim these as your own. I spend a lot of time translating these, please be respectful.

[2009 – 3 big news]
On the top of the 3 big news of 2009 is Uchimura Kouhei-kun winning the gold medal in the world championship. Of course, I went to cheer him on (as the rep for Fuji Television Field Navigator), and cheered him on saying “Do your best!”
The second one is that I did “Mirror Man” (laugh). Mirror Man is an experiment where I wear a full body mirror suit on Odoroki no Arashi, and then become an invisible person by blending in with the scenery. When I’m hidden, every time I think, “I’ll NEVER be found out here!” (laugh). It’s just, the adjustment of light reflection is really important, and it’s super hard to make sure it doesn’t shine. You know, the movement limitation is delicate between even a milliliter, and when you pick a spot, I just sit still like that. The sun moves too, so there is a fight with time, too. Until I pick the perfect location, Nino and the are of course waiting (laugh). I think it’s a tough location for the people accompanying, but it’s SO fun! Mirror Man will really go to the world, next time! First, I want to attack it from Korea nearby (laugh). I talked about a core project in number 2, so for the third one I should talk about our 10th anniversary. Our 10th year song is on a best of album, we got a clip collection, and when we were given our final objects, I was so happy I couldn’t even say anything. The tour that we’re doing now, it’s the contents of our 10 years condensed, and every time I’m given more motivation. In these 10 years, I was able to do a lot of different things, and of course the fans are there. I’m really grateful to everyone. I’ve received a lot of congratulations for our 10 year anniversary from the people around us, and I think that the Arashi Challenge Week from Nihon Television was a big reward. I was nervous during the NEWS ZERO “Voice” corner (laugh). Basically, I’m the type to get nervous when doing a serious job (laugh).
[Looking back at the year 2009]
{More than to comment on the 2009 February issue, I want to talk about the 10 years of memories that Arashi has. Just like this without changing, being able to accumulate this one by one, that is the best.}
It’s certainly become just like that, huh. It wasn’t that 2009 was a special year for Arashi, but I want to always hold these feelings.
[Current State]
My drama “My Girl” (TV Asahi, every week on Fri from 11:15pm) has gotten to the climax, and it feels like it’s going in a spurt (laugh). I’m really happy because I’m being told it’s a good drama, and that people can connect with it. Also, people say that Koharu-chan is really cute (laugh). Playing a father, I now completely understand how hard it is for parents. My two parents also raised a little brat, I’m really grateful of course.
In Arashi’s drama “The Final Promise”, (最後の約束) (Fuji TV, begins January 9th) my character is a café worker, but I can’t talk about it fully. It’s related to the story, you know. But when we debuted, Fuji TV let us do “V no Arashi”, and now on our 10 year anniversary we get to do another drama with the members, so I’m happy, and really excited. Also, it’s almost my birthday (Christmas)! Usually what we always do is celebrate in our dressing room. We don’t change the location and decide “okay, let’s go to Aiba-chan’s party!” or anything (laugh). Really, it’s the thought that counts (laugh).
Up next should be.. Jun! :3 as he's next in line haha
