Last Friends finallly

eggchanAhhhhhhh~ FWAHHHHHHHH I just finished Last Friends today... 
Ok so.. I highly enjoyed this show. It was full of things I had never seen before in a J-drama. Domestic violence, homosexuality, sexual insecurities (molestation?), and more. That being said, I was really happy with the ending, as most people were, I think.
The issue between Ruka and Michiru panned out well, and so did Ruka and Takeru, although I'm sure dozens of people were wetting their panties over the thought of them getting together in the end. Honestly, I really thought they would have made a cute couple. And they sort of did...
Except they made more of a... cute three-some... 
Sousuke.. of course I really never expected him to die.. I thought for sure that Takeru was going to die trying to save Michiru and Ruka from his fury.... but you know, I really don't know why, but at the beginning of episode 11 when Michiru had flashbacks of him and of how they met.. I actually felt sorry for the son of a bitch. WHY??
I really don't understand it myself, honestly..
The issue between Takeru and his sister, well.. honestly it wasn't as resolved as I hoped it would have been. I mean, yes, he forgave her finally, but.. I don't know. It seemed like it was forgotten after the first 3 episodes, and then the writers were like, "Oh SHIT, we have to explain what happened".. well, that's ok I was happy w/ it.
Aaand well, I'm really not sure if the rumors that I heard were true but if you haven't heard, Ueno Juri apparantly got very upset on the set. Apparantly Sousuke was supposed to have been given the boot earlier, but every time he smacked Michiru, the ratings for the next episode would go up, so they didn't kill him off.. so Juri-san was really upset because she had been working very hard to get into her own role, apparently she even spoke to people who really had a trans-gender disorder and yet her role was being downplayed by Mr. DV.. well, I'd be pissed too, but who knows if it's real

Date: 2008-07-11 02:21 am (UTC)In any case, I was SO happy that it didn't end up as a romance thing. I think that being with the people that you love is what's most important, and the fact that they lived to care for each other and make each other smile was an extremely beautiful thing to me. By the end of that series, I wanted to live in the sharehouse with them. Well, even more so...I want to live like that with some of my close friends. As someone who's never had a boyfriend and has never been interested in dating...sometimes I wish that things in this world were a little less centered around romance and a little more centered on love itself.
I was so happy with the ending of the show. It was even better than I expected. (But I felt bad for Sousuke, too...I wish that he'd found happiness with someone other than Michiru--a normal kind.)
And I wish that they had developed the whole Takeru thing more. The way that they approached it was so ridiculously vague. I watched with no subtitles, so I thought that maybe I'd missed something important. So I looked up the script (a website called dramanote has a transcription of dramas!) and was shocked to learn that they barely developed his story at all.
It was such a great show. I think I'll watch Nodame next, like you suggested!
