Finally getting around to it: Hollywood Bowl 2008

So, finally I'm getting around to making this post. :O

First of all, let me say... it's an experience I will NEVER forget.. and I REALLY hope that we can venture out there again next year. *SO FUN*

Well, as some of you may know, we went for the main reason of seeing DBSK.. but also saw many other groups I love as well ^^ Super Junior, M, and Girls Generation are to name a few.

*WARNING* Very text and image heavy!! 56k be afraid

We arrived in LA on Friday afternoon, and got our things together, rushing to our shuttle to our hotel which was supposedly arriving in "a few minutes" and if we weren't on it, we were out of luck. Well, it turns out that "a few minutes" meant like, a half an hour.. but I didn't mind. The weather was gorgeous, and we got to relax for a bit after the plane ride. We also saw some snazzy and extremely expensive looking cars.. of course, it's LA so I shouldn't be surprised.

After the shuttle finally arrived, we hopped in and took a good look around to take in LA... and then proceeded to fear for our lives.. because our driver was TERRIBLE. WE HIT 2 CARS ON THE WAY... and we almost got side swiped by a van because our driver failed to look and signal while attempting to merge. The first time he hit a car, he started LAUGHING.. LIKE A MANIAC. WTF T_T Then... he dropped us off at the wrong hotel. WTF. We were wondering if it was ours, because the name of the hotel he parked at was wrong. We then checked with him the address, and he assured us that it was the right address.

NOPE! Luckily, our actual hotel was about 1-2 blocks down the road, so we didn't have to go too far. The outside of the hotel was interesting. It looked like a motel, because most of it was outside, but when we got to our room, it was furnished with almost brand-new looking furniture, a fancy bathroom, and a flat-screen TV. Pretty nice ^^

Well, we mostly just wanted to hang out in our hotel room the first day.. we were all tired, and just got out of school (well.. except me lol) and wanted to just relax. We ended up finding Road to El Dorado on TV and watching that.. which I didn't realize just how much I missed it until we started watching it ^^ "YOUR HORSE BIT ME IN THE BUTT!!" Ahh.. anyway, we played some DS games like Tetris, and I tried out Katie's Taiko Drum Master, which was extremely fun. Eventually we all became tired from the jet lag (although it wasn't a very large time difference..) and fell asleep.

In the morning, we woke up early for the free breakfast, which was tiny donuts, cereal and pastries. The guy who we checked in told us it wasn't extravagant, and he wasn't kidding.. but hey.. I enjoyed it, so that's all that matters ^^ Afterwards, we all got ready for the concert, and hung out a little bit more in the hotel room. We went to a Seven-Eleven across the street, and got some water, snacks, and some got their dinner.

And then, we finally set out for the concert. :O

...and proceeded to become extremely lost, because the maps of the area SUCKKKK.. a lot. even the reeeally nice security lady that showed us the way told us that the way there doesn't make any sense, and the locals even get lost -.- Well, she VERY kindly showed us the way to the shuttles, and then got on the bus. ^^

We finally arrived at the concert hall!! And hooooly shit, it was PACKED. Packed with Koreans, talking and yelling in Korean.. so I could never tell if they were yelling at me or not T_T We had thought originally there would be a very long line of people to pick up the tickets, but Katie and group just walked right up and they were very fast and efficient. There was however, a very large... blob (best word I can come up with, because it was not a line in any way) where you had to get your bag checked by security. We got through that eventually (there were lots and lots of ajumma's pushing.. I don't know what it is, but asian elderly just kind of push the younger people around, wherever they please. I suppose that's because there's much more respect for the elderly in asia..

Anyway, we got through and there was another large blob of people.. we weren't sure what it was for, but eventually found out they were giving stuff away. We got an American and Korean flag.. a light stick (AWESOME!) and a bag, which was kind of an ordeal to get.. everyone was just kind of grabbing them, and then the staff started pushing people back, and I wasn't sure if I was supposed to grab it or not. Well, after like 2 minutes of them ignoring me, I decided to just grab one.. as soon as I put my hand out, the staff put his hand down in front of me, stared at me angrily and said, "WHAT COLOR..?" Well.. I wouldn't have had to grab it if you hadn't IGNORED ME!! >_< Anyway, I got a black bag.. and we were happy with the free merchandise.

Also during all this, we kept getting people commenting on our shirts. I was pretty happy to hear people liking them~ Because it was worth making ^^

Up to this point I really didn't take many pictures, so the image heavy part has arrived ^_~

We found our "box".. it was pretty cute XD Nice.. we get our own little box to sit in. Well.. my chair was broken.. and I sat through my chair. lol.. ahh.. at least I didn't get hurt. They got me a new chair, and then we hung out, waiting for it to start ^^

The concert area, while we waited, funny commercials came on the screen

Well, finally it began! And, I guess to start us out, they brought out a choir to sing the national anthem. Then, to my (and I'm assuming everyone else's) surprise, they pulled out Junsu to sing the Korean national anthem!!

Slightly hard to see him, but he sang beautifully

After Junsu left the stage, the choir group sang about 10 minutes worth of jesus songs, and at the end, some fireworks and streamers came flying out. Pretty cool ;)

Then our MC's, Brian and Ock Joo Hyun, came on stage and introduced themselves. They chatted for a bit.. (in Korean..) and then out comes Suju!

They sang Chutcha and Rokkugo. Is there a reason why their outfits are so fugly? D: I mean.. I suppose I wouldn't mind it so much if there weren't yellow FEATHERS!! FEATHERS!!!

Next Chae Yeon came out and sang a few songs.

Moon Hee Jun.. I highly enjoyed his music!

Girls Generation~ ^^ What a cute group.

Chung Hoon Hee came on as one of the older singers, and she sang some beautiful songs ^^

Choi Baek Ho.. I don't remember his music T_T

This guy came out of retirement to sing here I guess, and he sang quite a few songs. Not my favorite music or anything, but he seemed to be a crowd favorite for the ajummas and ajusshis. He got Girls Generation to come out and sing with him, but I think they didn't know the lyrics to his song, cuz they kept looking funny at their palms like they were reading lyrics XD

M (Lee Min Woo) sang some great songs.. I really enjoyed them.. but I wasn't able to get a clear picture of him I guess. T_T He ended up ripping his shirt off at the end of the performance, which I found hiiilarious for some reason.

Fly to the SKY

Kim Se Hwan, I don't remember much of his performance either :(

SG Wannabe.. I am unfortunately not too familiar with them.

Son Ho Young.. he had a great voice.. and interacted with the crowd a lot.. he was funny and entertaining ^^

And finally... DBSK!!!!! The announcers couldn't even finish their name, because everyone started screaming so loudly. It was pure chaos when they came out. Everyone stood up to get a good picture or clear view of them. They started out with Rising Sun (YAY)

DANCE!!

I like this picture quite a bit.

They then introduce themselves, which I couldn't hear much of because of the screaming XD

Singing "Together" *.* Beautiful.

PURPLE LINE!! I WAS SO HAPPY THEY SANG THIS!!

After they sang Purple Line, they exited the stage while everyone screamed.. Brian then starts chanting "Encore, encore, encore~" and BALLOONS STARTS PLAYING!! YAY!!

They look a little funny wearing their Purple Line leather-ish outfits while singing Balloons and doing the dance XD

Then a bunch of the other artists came out, like Suju and Girls Generation and sang with them.

Jaejooooooong!! Camwhooore!

Then everyone came out and sang a song together.. and then suddenly..

FIREWORKS!! :O

The concert ended, and we all rushed to our bus... and thus concludes my concert experience. It was great, and I hope that I can afford to go next year, maybe with even closer seats.

I'll write about our trip to Hollywood Blvd the day after another day.

These selection of pictures are about 1/10th of what I took. For (almost) all the pictures I took, and slightly better quality, here are the Facebook links ^^

lol.. just look for the extremely low v-neck XD

I think I'm in the minority when I say that JJ is *not* my favorite.. in fact, I probably like him the LEAST XD that is to say, I like *all* of them a lot (esp. Yunho, Junsu, Micky, Chang... ok I can't choose T_T)

[identity profile] quinnsan.livejournal.com 2008-05-25 08:07 am (UTC)(link)
xD Yup~ That makes him all the easier to spot. xDD

Ah~ I love them all..but JJ is my favorite..followed by Yunho, followed by Min, followed by Junsu followed by Yoochun. xDD

Oh man, that concert was amazing *0*

I should write about the trip before I start forgetting the details of it.

Note to self: Make a comment about the death of Big Bird for SuJu's outfits in order to look better than Arashi's "God awful death to everything" outfits. Seriously though, they could have been much worse.

And yes, let's sit closer next year~
