A coherent post (やった!)

Soooo... it's about 5:00 over here in the land of the rising sun. Today has been uneventful.. yet eventful if only for the fact that I got to kind of explore, look around, and get some shopping/errands done.

I ate some inari and some sushi with cucumbers, egg, pickled... something (I don't remember what it was but all I know is I like it lol), and some pinkish... stuff? If anyone knows what that is let me know. Is it some sort of fish? I'll try to get a picture up of it. Anyway, after I ate it my head started to feel funny, so I thought maybe it had meat in it and was making me feel woozy. Well anyway, I only really feel it when I'm sitting and sometimes standing. And it feels like I'm in an airplane. So I figured that one out XD;

Okay, okay.. I bet you are all wondering about the pictures *dun dunnn* I will get to them :)

I haven't taken too many yet, but I've got some of my room and also outside a bit.

Another reason I was interested in this dorm was that it was the only one with a rooftop that you could go up on. I hear that it is a great spot to see fireworks in the summertime, so I'm excited for that.

Every time I see a ferris wheel I think of Arashi. Why?? Idk haha

Anyway, that's that. I'm getting super sleepy, and I tried to take a nap but that didn't work.

I went out and got some groceries at the grocery store nearby.. and I guess at that store you're supposed to bring your own bag lol. Soooo.. I had to stuff my bag with my groceries and carry the rest. I felt kind of lame haha but oh well. I learned my lesson and bought a cute eco bag from the dollar store. Which I also went to and got an umbrella and slippers.. and I forgot to get a cup :( aw. (also almost everything at the dollar store is not 100 yen. Which is weird ^^;; cuz it says it's the dollar store. Oh well.) I also couldn't help myself and bought a copy of Wink Up with Nino on the cover and a giant poster of him on the inside :x

Sidewalks are also really tiny. They're seriously like |-----------| that big. Which is kind of cool haha idk... everything is so different here, it's really quite interesting. Even the birds make different noises. There's one going on right now that sounds like an old lady hacking up a lung. Seriously. And yes, it's a bird and not an old lady hacking up a lung. I checked :P

Customer service is also so weird but awesome. The grocery store had a guy directing traffic and people walking across the street. I wasn't crossing the street, but the entrance and exit to the parking lot for the grocery store. He put his arm out and said はい、どうぞ~.. XD

I'm also noticing that I'm bowing. A lot. Like I know that you're supposed to bow, but I just keep doing it unconsciously. Like a salaryman.

I've also done some cleaning up and storing/etc. So things look a little more neat and I'm waiting for my ice cubes to freeze because I want cold water. I'm so thirsty haha omg.. 喉がすごく渇きました。

Alright, well.. my placement test is tomorrow morning at 9. We'll see which class they put me in. There's still a lot that I have to say/want to say, but my brain is kind of foggy still.

Also: ひみつの嵐ちゃん on tomorrow night. Wooooooop woop

And here I thought after all this time of studying it that you would just be able to jump right in! Hehe, but seriously, I hope you have a great time. Sadly, I leave on Monday for about 3 months to float around the ocean, so I won't be seeing you. I hope you have a pleasant time in Japan though, and I look forward to seeing all your pictures...until I get out to see, where the Internet is worse than 56k.

/hug

Miss you!

Your dorm looks so nice. I'm jealous, because the little apartment I'm moving into for the summer doesn't have internet. DD: I'll be within walking distance of campus, so I should be able to use it there, but...it's not the same as having it at home and being able to relax and use internet there. Oh well...

In any case, your dorm looks SO nice.

And now to reply to things you said! :P

I went out and got some groceries at the grocery store nearby.. and I guess at that store you're supposed to bring your own bag lol.

LOOOOL, REALLY? Either A)It's just a Kansai thing, or B)It's like the supermarkets here in Saitama and you didn't realize it. I was so confused when I went to the supermarket for the first time, because they put everything back in your basket and then you go up to this little bagging area and bag everything yourself. Usually here, they give you one bag when you pay and they have a roll of other plastic bags at the bagging tables...but I feel like you would've seen something like that...I wonder if that's a Kansai thing...that seems so odd...

Sidewalks are also really tiny. They're seriously like |-----------| that big.
SO TRUE. I felt like I was doing something really dangerous walking 15 minutes to school from my station, because the sidewalk was so narrow. But I got used to it within about a week and realized that the width of the sidewalk doesn't really matter, as long as there is one. :P

everything is so different here, it's really quite interesting.
You get used lots of things FAST. So fast that you don't remember getting used to them. And then things that would have once seemed weird to you suddenly make so much sense and you wonder how you ever did things a different way back in America.

Customer service is also so weird but awesome.
Japan in a nutshell. This is the country of customer service. You will be ASTONISHED. Just wait. :P

Good luck with your placement test!

ahh~ such a nice reply T-T

I'm sure I'll get used to it and when I go back to America I won't want to go back to the old ways haha. I really like just being able to walk 3 mins to the grocery store :x

Also, I am not in Kansai actually ^_^; I am in 中部地方

I think I would die if I had to learn Kansai-ben T_T (before learning more Japanese lol)

YA, being able to walk everywhere in general is awesome.

And..I'm not really sure why I was under the impression that Nagoya was in Kansai. Sorry! :P

Keep writing! I want to know how things are going for you. <3

ahhh~ haha yea well, I honestly am just a little intimidated and don't want to butcher their language. But, after yesterday I'm feeling a little better and I'm sure that it will only get better over time. Me and a dorm mate went and talked with the ojii-chan that owns this building and he is really really nice and told me that I can only speak in Japanese with him haha. Well, we chatted for a little bit, but it was more him talking and me nodding and him saying "wakaru?" etc haha.

Anyway, yeah I think it will get better :)

And yes.. T_T It's really too bad that we won't be able to see each other. Bawww... well... I can see you in spirit I guess. XD If I ever see a DDR machine, I'll think of you XD There's a SEGA arcade around here that I'm gonna check out eventually
