A coherent post (やった!)
Soooo... it's about 5:00 over here in the land of the rising sun. Today has been uneventful.. yet eventful if only for the fact that I got to kind of explore, look around, and get some shopping/errands done.
I ate some inari and some sushi with cucumbers, egg, pickled... something (I don't remember what it was but all I know is I like it lol), and some pinkish... stuff? If anyone knows what that is let me know. Is it some sort of fish? I'll try to get a picture up of it. Anyway, after I ate it my head started to feel funny, so I thought maybe it had meat in it and was making me feel woozy. Well anyway, I only really feel it when I'm sitting and sometimes standing. And it feels like I'm in an airplane. So I figured that one out XD;
Okay, okay.. I bet you are all wondering about the pictures *dun dunnn* I will get to them :)
I haven't taken too many yet, but I've got some of my room and also outside a bit.

Another reason I was interested in this dorm was that it was the only one with a rooftop that you could go up on. I hear that it is a great spot to see fireworks in the summertime, so I'm excited for that.

Every time I see a ferris wheel I think of Arashi. Why?? Idk haha

Anyway, that's that. I'm getting super sleepy, and I tried to take a nap but that didn't work.
I went out and got some groceries at the grocery store nearby.. and I guess at that store you're supposed to bring your own bag lol. Soooo.. I had to stuff my bag with my groceries and carry the rest. I felt kind of lame haha but oh well. I learned my lesson and bought a cute eco bag from the dollar store. Which I also went to and got an umbrella and slippers.. and I forgot to get a cup :( aw. (also almost everything at the dollar store is not 100 yen. Which is weird ^^;; cuz it says it's the dollar store. Oh well.) I also couldn't help myself and bought a copy of Wink Up with Nino on the cover and a giant poster of him on the inside :x
Sidewalks are also really tiny. They're seriously like |-----------| that big. Which is kind of cool haha idk... everything is so different here, it's really quite interesting. Even the birds make different noises. There's one going on right now that sounds like an old lady hacking up a lung. Seriously. And yes, it's a bird and not an old lady hacking up a lung. I checked :P
Customer service is also so weird but awesome. The grocery store had a guy directing traffic and people walking across the street. I wasn't crossing the street, but the entrance and exit to the parking lot for the grocery store. He put his arm out and said はい、どうぞ~.. XD
I'm also noticing that I'm bowing. A lot. Like I know that you're supposed to bow, but I just keep doing it unconsciously. Like a salaryman.
I've also done some cleaning up and storing/etc. So things look a little more neat and I'm waiting for my ice cubes to freeze because I want cold water. I'm so thirsty haha omg.. 喉がすごく渇きました。
Alright, well.. my placement test is tomorrow morning at 9. We'll see which class they put me in. There's still a lot that I have to say/want to say, but my brain is kind of foggy still.
Also: ひみつの嵐ちゃん on tomorrow night. Wooooooop woop

In any case, your dorm looks SO nice.
And now to reply to things you said! :P
I went out and got some groceries at the grocery store nearby.. and I guess at that store you're supposed to bring your own bag lol.
LOOOOL, REALLY? Either A)It's just a Kansai thing, or B)It's like the supermarkets here in Saitama and you didn't realize it. I was so confused when I went to the supermarket for the first time, because they put everything back in your basket and then you go up to this little bagging area and bag everything yourself. Usually here, they give you one bag when you pay and they have a roll of other plastic bags at the bagging tables...but I feel like you would've seen something like that...I wonder if that's a Kansai thing...that seems so odd...
Sidewalks are also really tiny. They're seriously like |-----------| that big.
SO TRUE. I felt like I was doing something really dangerous walking 15 minutes to school from my station, because the sidewalk was so narrow. But I got used to it within about a week and realized that the width of the sidewalk doesn't really matter, as long as there is one. :P
everything is so different here, it's really quite interesting.
You get used lots of things FAST. So fast that you don't remember getting used to them. And then things that would have once seemed weird to you suddenly make so much sense and you wonder how you ever did things a different way back in America.
Customer service is also so weird but awesome.
Japan in a nutshell. This is the country of customer service. You will be ASTONISHED. Just wait. :P
Good luck with your placement test!

I'm sure I'll get used to it and when I go back to America I won't want to go back to the old ways haha. I really like just being able to walk 3 mins to the grocery store :x
Also, I am not in Kansai actually ^_^; I am in 中部地方
I think I would die if I had to learn Kansai-ben T_T (before learning more Japanese lol)

And..I'm not really sure why I was under the impression that Nagoya was in Kansai. Sorry! :P
Keep writing! I want to know how things are going for you. <3

Anyway, yeah I think it will get better :)
And yes.. T_T It's really too bad that we won't be able to see each other. Bawww... well... I can see you in spirit I guess. XD If I ever see a DDR machine, I'll think of you XD There's a SEGA arcade around here that I'm gonna check out eventually

The thing about birds making different noises... SO TRUE! I realized that one morning when I was lying in bed half-asleep when I stayed in the country... weirdest feeling ever...
Your dorm looks really really nice! And a rooftop to watch fireworks? SO LUCKY! Definitely take advantage of it! :D

It almost looked like really really really tiny fish eggs, but they didn't really taste like fish, so... iunno??

This? http://www.flavorj.com/~skysea/sushi/ikura.jpg
It's called ikura...I've never actually eaten it, but I've seen it...or are you talking about something else?

As for the food, was the pickled thing yellowish? If so it could be pickled daikon, which I LOVE. And maybe the pinkish thing is a fishcake...?

Kidding, of course. But woow, your dorm looks totally awesome, and the view is great too. Lmao @ Arashi!ferris wheel. Things sound really interesting so far, and I'm looking forward to hearing about other differences that you notice (the bird thing cracked me up, lolol). Good luck on your test!

lols maybe its the color of the ferris wheel *wink, wink* ;]

Arashi and Ferris Wheels. Is it because of D No Arashi? When they went on with the Fat dude and it was rocking like crazy!??! (that's Odaiba!)
Pink thing - was it Umeboshi? I think you'd know if you ate that though. It's really sour. It could be pickled garlic!
LOL about the birds, I know what you mean! The birds there are so damn noisy. Uk birds just tweet but Japanese ones go 'HAW HAW HAW HAW' so frickin' loud!
Awesome pictures, please take more!

Hahah, the bowing...I still do that even if it's been a year being back in my own country XD;; good thing the asian population here is huge, so I don't look completely strange doing it.
Sounds like you're having fun! Glad you arrived safely! And don't melt in the heat!
Good luck with your placement! :D

It's called a "futomaki". The pink thing, by the way, is called "denbu", and it's a type of processed fish flake. :D Hope that helps!
It's... humid there, ain't it? ;)
